Robert Stanley “Bo” McCormick, The Fake Special Forces Motorcycle Club Guy – Guardian Of Valor

Florida-  This information was sent to us by guys in the Special Forces community. Bo McCormick claims to be Special Forces, and wears the 10th SF Group flash on his beret and the Special Forces Qualification Tab on his vest, along with a Scuba Badge. He is the founder of the Florida Special Forces Motorcycle Club, not affiliated with the original SFMC out of Colorado. His records state he was assigned to 10th SFG as a unit armorer and supply sergeant.

Here is what they told us:

It was brought to our attention that the founder of the Florida SFMC(Special Forces Motorcycle Club), Robert Stanley “BO” McCormick was wearing unauthorized badges and not SF qualified, nor Scuba qualified.

We conducted an investigation, and found this to be true. [ I think it’s important for everyone to know that the SFMC is originally from Colorado, not Florida, and has no affiliation with Bo McCormick or the riding club he created down in Florida.]
As far as his unauthorized badges, He wears a SF Tab and Scuba Badge on his “colors”. SWC G-3 was contacted and there is no record of him having graduated from Scuba School or SFQC. Additionally he gave us copies of his DD 214 and his DA 20. There is no annotation of the SQI W7 nor award or annotation of SQI S.

By his own admission, he failed the SFQC 12B, in August of 1966. His 214 lists him as an E-5 76Y20 and parachutist qualified. His DD 20 has him in a duty position of 76Y4S. He served in it as an unqualified E-5.

His replies to the allegations are as follows:

*He lost his records.

*He quit the SFQC because his child had the shits.

*He was awarded the S by Colonel Beck (I guess because he was a good guy?).

*By his own admission, he failed the SFQC 12B, in August of 1966 but stated “I feel that my experience in 10th Group makes me Special Forces Qualified”.

By his way of thinking, I speak to SF and Navy SEAL’s all the time, guess that means I can wear the Tab and Trident!

Here are his records, according to them he never earned the Tab, he attending training but didn’t complete it. He served in a support function with SF according to his 2-1. He completed a civilian version of the scuba course, but didn’t take the military version and is not authorized to wear the scuba badge.

Several members of the SF community have had run-ins with this guy in the past about his claims of being Special Forces Qualified, and he gets very upset it seems when someone questions his credentials.

Below is his 2-1, although poor quality, you can see where he was assigned to 10th as support.

Below is another photo sent to us, it was grabbed off of his Facebook profile. In the below photo he is wearing the Special Forces Training Group flash.

Below is a comment from a former operator on this guy:

As a former 10th GRP (A) operator for many years to include being a combat diver and SFUWO instructor his stories appear completely false. I resigned from the SFMC based upon this apparent betrayal of trust to the regiment – I’ve personally witnessed him wear a green beret and scuba badge as depicted in the posted photograph. One hundred men will test today but only 3 win the Green Beret… To attempt the training and not meet the standard is honorable … To self withdraw and claim qualification is dishonorable moreover; he has a long history of confrontation with truly SF qualified operators. Let’s hope this goes national and all veterans riding clubs and MCs take note of this situation. SFNQ / DOL – let’s ask the question…. Has any SF qualified member of the 10th SFG (A) ever served on an SFODA with him…. EVERY SF operator has at least ONE team photograph of an A Team you have been on.

Several other sites have also posted him up, below are the links to their write-ups.

This is the link to the MC he founded – FSFMC They had a Facebook page earlier today, but after thisainthell and scotty posted the story it was taken down.

One day these people will learn, when you claim things like this, people will ask questions.
